Rosanna & Zélia

The story of Rosanna and Zélia is one of a journey which started in Minas Gerais and led the two musicians via Portugal and Finland to Frankfurt. At first, their aim was to find a new relationship with their own folk music and discover how musicians here interpret classical, jazz and pop music.
"Far from home, one sees one's culture in a different light and learns to understand it bet-ter. That was the first thing we realised. Everything suddenly sounded new again - even the Bossa Nova, which until then had seemed to us like outdated music. Here, we have rediscovered the beauty of this style in a completely unbiased manner. We wanted to play it in addition to all the other richly diverse forms of Brazilian music." declared Rosanna and Zélia. An article in Stereoplay commented: "The two women experiment with paintings in sound, artistic ballad-like moods, blends of reggae and samba and religious, ritual music."

Die beiden Alben „Passagem“ und „Coisário“ ernten begeisterten Beifall, einmal wegen des schier unerschöpflichen musikalischen Einfallsreichtums der Künstlerinnen, sowie auch wegen des brillanten und transparenten Klangs. Grund genug für Produzent Johannes Wohlleben, die besten Stücke für eine DVD Audio neu zu mischen und zu mastern. Und tatsächlich führt die mehrkanalige Mischung zu einem überraschenden und musikalisch aufregendem Ergebnis:

Im mehrdimensionalen Klangraum zaubern die schwerelosen Songs eine schillernde Aura aus Inspiration, Sehnsucht und Optimismus. Die intensiven Stimmen, filigranen Gitarrenbegleitungen, federnden Rhythmen und fröhliche Ausbrüche, die das Markenzeichen der beiden Musikerinnen sind, sind wahrhaftig rundum erfahr- und erfühlbar. Virtuose Kollegen tragen als willkommene Gäste ihre klingenden Farbtupfer bei, zum Beispiel Dino Saluzzi am Bandoneon, Howard Levy mit seiner Mundharmonika und die Rainbird-Sängerin Katharina Franck. Immer dabei und herzerfrischend unkonventionell bereichert die temperamentvolle italo-brasilianische Percussionistin Angela Frontera das musikalische Spektrum.

"POSTCARD" ist ein expressiver audiophiler Gruß aus der nicht nur brasilianischen Klangwelt.
